By John WagnerCNN|January 20, 2020 10:53amThe House has voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and replace it with a bill that will keep millions of Americans from having health insurance.
The House voted 245-198, with 15 Republicans joining Democrats to vote against the bill.
The vote comes as Republicans have tried to paint themselves as the party of health care reform.
“I think we have been a little too timid and we have not been a bit aggressive,” House Speaker Paul Ryan said.
Ryan said the GOP has made a commitment to repeal Obamacare and repeal it now.
“We have been very focused on that,” he said.
“I think people are starting to understand what that means.
We will make a deal with our opponents and we will repeal Obamacare.”
President Donald Trump spoke at a press conference after the House vote.
He said he wants to get a bill through Congress and replace Obamacare as quickly as possible.
The Senate is expected to vote on the repeal and replace bill later this week.
